Faber Castell is the world's oldest and largest manufacturer of wood-cased pencils, and over the years has earned the respect and praise of many well known creative people - from Vincent van Gogh to Karl Lagerfield.

Since 1999 the Faber-Castell plantations have been certified by the Forest Stewardship Council, a demanding international standard for "environmentally compatible, socially equitable  and sustainable forestry" . The Chain of Custody certification guarantees futhermore that the origin of the wood in these pencils can be traced all the way from harvesting the timber to packaging the pencils.

Finally, Faber-Castell has committed to the children of the world with the Graf von Faber-Castell Children's Foundation which has made a sure commitment to help the children who suffer most in this world though its activities in various humanitarian aid projects.

The leads are made from a mix of graphite and clay, with different proportions varying the hardness (see image below). HB pencils, although a middle of H and B pencils, are about 75% graphite; B pencils have increasing amounts of graphite, 8B is the darkest, whereas H pencils have increasing proportions of clay, 6H is the lightest, but all the range still maintains it's stunningly high quality through the careful and sustainable manufacture.

Back in 1905 this now legendary green pencil was created by Count Alexander von Faber-Castell. In its jousting knights design it hints at the fact that the Castell 9000 has always stood for high quality, tradition and invincibility, and always will.

Griffix

Griffix: The clever system for learning to write

Help your child to write properly from the outset

If you have children or grandchildren, do you worry about how they grip a pen or pencil? Small children can be very determined and as a result it can be difficult to get them to hold a pen or pencil correctly.

ART GRIP COLOUR PENCILS

The leads are 3.3 mm thick, waterproof and non-smudge; they have a rich smooth feel in use and contain high-quality pigments with bright saturated colours. The light fastness is high.

A special feature of the permanent ART GRIP colour pencils is their ergonomic triangular cross-section with the patented grip zone consisting of hundreds of raised dots.

They allow you to guide the pencil accurately without it slipping through your fingers. In addition, this non-slip grip means that the hand does not tire, even after a long time.

The ART GRIP colour range is available in 60 indivdual colours or in assorted metal tins of 12, 24 resp. 36 pencils.
